Wilbur J. Hinz, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Heritage of Emerson Care Center in Emerson, NE.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE with Rev. Gretchen Ritola officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Emerson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 beginning at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.

Wilbur was born November 13, 1920 in rural Emerson, NE, the son of Charles and Emma (Voss) Hinz.
He was united in marriage with Julia Bartels on June 14, 1952 in Nashua, IA. Wilbur and Julia farmed for many years in the Waterbury area. Julia passed away on June 8, 2008.

Wilbur enjoyed gardening, his pets and working in his shop.

Survivors include his sister, Selma (Mel) Schrader of Mapleton, IA; brother, Raymond (Doris) Hinz of Newcastle, NE; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Julia; sister, Lucile Birkley; and brother, Virgil Hinz.
