Daniel Joseph Davey, 13, of Dakota Dunes, S.D., formerly of South Sioux City, NE passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 8, 2012, following his struggle with a rare form of muscular dystrophy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE with Father David Liewer officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Daniel was born in Sioux City, Iowa on December 21, 1998, the son of John M. and Tamie M. (Schroeder) Davey. He attended Cardinal Elementary School in South Sioux City.

Survivors include his parents, John and Tamie Davey; one brother, Samuel Patrick Davey; grandparents, Judy Davey Cooper of Sioux City, Iowa, and Stanley and Margaret Schroeder of Arcadia, Iowa; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and many caring teachers, therapists, caregivers, doctors and nurses.

Daniel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Pat Davey; step-grandfather, Darrell Cooper; and uncle, Danny Schroeder.
